First Ever Home Run Derby! - 04/15/2018

For the first time ever, our club partnered with Alpine American Little League and Alpine Fastpitch to offer a Major League Baseball Jr. Home Derby, providing local youth an opportunity to participate in a preliminary local competition.  Winners were 14 and under Camden Shields and 12 and under Tyler Bertalan who will go on to compete at the Regional Level.  The club enjoyed lots of help in putting this on from our members and our sponsored Granite Hills High School Key Club.

This was a new project focused on Pediatric Trauma Prevention.  With matching funds from a California-Nevada-Hawaii Pediatric Traume Prevention Grant, our club has invested a total of $4,000 in assisting...

Kids Love Our Kite Fly Day! - 04/12/2018

Alpine Kiwanians and parents helped kids learn to fly kites on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.   Each child received a kite donated by Ace Hardware and enjoyed free hot dogs and drinks provided by our club.

Easter Breakfast a Big Success! - 04/01/2018

Our annual Easter Pancake Breakfast is always a community reunion with more than 300 people coming out to enjoy a full breakfast prepared and served by Kiwanians.  Children had a great time meeting the Easter Bunny, hunting for eggs, and decorating eggs and cookies.

Jim Cate Recognized for Inter-Clubs - 03/17/2018

At our morning meeting, President Ray Sopfe recognized Jim Cate for his leadership of our Inter-club program that brought our club a Round Robin Award and a Mileage Award from the California-Nevada-Hawaii District.  

Great Talent in Speech Contest! - 03/10/2018

Four students from Joan MacQueen Middle School and one from Mountain View Learning Academy presented speeches on a variety of topics to our membership.  Ethan Mootaw from the Mountain View Learning Academy totally impressed us with his winning speech on the 2nd Amendment.  Pictured left to right are President Ray Sopfe, Wyatt Bollum, Michael Birkenbach, Winner Ethan Moutaw, and Rylee Schwartz.  Not present is Zachary Burton, who had to leave right after he presented his speech.

Local Kids Win Medals at Youth Olympics - 02/11/2018

Local elementary school children enjoyed a day of competing for medals in metered races, softball throws, jump roping, obstacle courses, sit ups and more.  While scores were being tallied, everyone was entertained by our favorite magician!

Key Club Takeover! - 01/13/2018

Our club sponsors the Granite Hills High School Key Club , now 122 students strong!  On Saturday, 60 of them arrived to take over our meeting as a planned fundraiser, and successfully raised $1300 from our members more than willing to help them with their expenses.  Kylie Schwenk, President of the Key Club, led our meeting. She and her team led the meeting and took over all of the normal functions of our own officers.  This is one of many ways our club helps to train our youth in leadership skills.

JMMS Students Win National Competition! - 01/06/2018

JMMS students, Hayden Loarie and Ramses Lara, attended our meeting to share details of how they took the National title in the Junior Solar Sprint Competition in Orlando FL with their solar powered car built with 3D printers.  Our club helped finance their trip to participate in this competition.

George Mason Moves to Montana - 01/06/2018

Today we said goodbye to George Mason, a member of this club for the past 19 years.  George was a big help with our many events throughout the year.  George will be moving to Montana to live with his son.  He will be missed!

Alpine Brewery Supports our Work! - 12/30/2017

Pictured is President Ray Sopfe with the Alpine Brewery tasting staff, accepting a donation of $500 for our use to help the community and youth of Alpine.  The club is very grateful for their support!

President Greg Fox surpised Louise Phipps with the Key Club Advisor pin and the added the Kiwanian of the year pin tab from the 2013 -14.
