The Kiwanis Club of Alpine is part of a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
Local kids coached by members of the Alpine Kiwanis and the Granite Hills High School Key Club we sponsor had a great time competing in our recent Youth Olympics event.
We are the third largest Kiwanis Club in our District (California, Nevada and Hawaii), and have established a reputation for excellence within Kiwanis International as one of the largest and most active clubs.
Our Club has donated over $736,000 to Rady Children's Hospital since 1986!
We were named "Organization of the Year" at the 2009 Alpine Leadership and Public Service Awards for the second year running. We also received the 2009 Alpine Sun Newsmaker Award! Our 2008-09 President, Dan Foster, received the Club's Member Recognition Award. At the 2009 District Convention, we received an award for the Best Website in the Cal-Nev-Ha District.
We are known not only for our service to the children of the world, especially those living in Alpine, but also for our camaraderie and fellowship, and for the fun we have making our community a better place for everyone.
When asked, "What makes the Kiwanis Club of Alpine so sucessful?", member Charles Nelson replied,
"It is the work. The work we do is the engine for building and maturing the club. People who join the club are from all walks of life but have in their heart something in common. That is a desire to improve the quality of life in their community and to help children grow and live life successfully. The work provides an opportunity for members to work together forming teams and expanding acquaintenance with each other. Our common motives quickly build mutual appreciation of each other. The teamwork matures and builds a family and we care about each other. This process that makes such a contribution to community and children yields an unmatched experience for all of us."
We are proud to endorse the candidacy of Oscar Knight III, the Cal-Nev-Ha District Endorsed Candidate for International Trustee. Oscar has served Kiwanis as our Division's Lieutenant Governor in 2003-04 and as our District's Governor in 2007-08, and we have first-hand knowledge of his vision and leadership ability. 4th of July Parade
|
7/3/2010
|
The Kiwanis Club of Alpine is always an important part of this parade with our flag group. We have also been asked to erect a few of our tents to provide needed shade. Staging of the parade will be at 9 a.m. and it will begin at 10 a.m. All of the children of Alpine have been invited to be part of it, and we need lots of spectators, too! We will also need volunteers at 6 a.m. and at 2 p.m. for setup and tear-down of our tents. Stay tuned as additional volunteer needs are identified. Hope to see you there!
