Key
Club
The Granite Hills Key Club is a high school community service club
affiliated with the Alpine Kiwanis. The club has been recognized on campus as
a strong and active group of students for 22years. The two faculty advisors are
Don Mathiowetz, a long time advisor, and Pam Price, who joined this year. Jim
Mann is the Kiwanis Club advisor. Currently, the club numbers 40 students and
the 2002-2003 officers are:
President - Brett Vowles
Vice President Amy Forbes
Secretary - Jenna Sopfe
Treasurer - Stefanie Mah
The club enjoys participating in many activities ranging from the San Diego
County Light the Night and San Diego Aids Walk to local park and residential cleanups.
Club members spend time monthly with residents of the Alpine View Lodge, a retirement
facility in Alpine. Kiwanis-affiliated activities include the Alpine Challenge
Bike Ride, Kiwanis Easter Pancake Breakfast, and the Special Olympics. The club
also enjoys participating in activities with other Key Clubs from within our Division
31 and beyond. In 2001-2002, the club expended 2100 hours in various community
activities.
